I consider myself the start-up equivalent of a EIR. My pres and ceo handle the VC's while i hear about the general news without having to crawl through the trenches. It's certainly nice to be able to sleep at night and not worry over every tiny detail. In the end, there's no playbook one can read to prepare one's self to handle every surprise that can come with a term sheet.

It's comforting to hear that the EIR's across the table have a similar perspective.
