I think I would definitely pay for tools and/or new methods for me to contact my audience. I'd see it as a substitute for things like networking or job recruiting or other things that require a bunch of time

Similarly, if I could grow my subscriber base or twitter followers without degrading the quality of them, I'd definitely pay some $ amount per subscriber. Not sure what that number is, but I'd definitely do it.

Andrew, what about in reverse.. Instead of monetizing your blog, would you, or do you pay for any analytics related product that would meet the criteria you've described? Namely, help build audience and understand it better.

If Feedburner was $10/month, would you still be using it? What is that threshold, and I wonder how many bloggers pay for 3rd party analytics services in general (part of the problem in terms of monetization for these services is the fact that there are so many good free ones out there).

I haven't found this to be the case. Most of the people I have worked with over the years, at Sun and in embedded systems development, have linkedin accounts now. Its such a useful tool for networking and career development that its use spread rapidly.

Agreed. On the blog, I'm not looking to make any money off my readers. It's just not the reason for the writing.

I look at the whole 'blog monetization' thing pretty much the way you described above. When it's time to make some cash from the web I'll submit an ebook or (god forbid) hack out some widget.

Haven't tried tweepsearch yet, but I think I can find a use for it.

Have you changed the layout here? Seems I was here a few days ago and it looked different. IDK, it might be the medication.
