2009 conference schedule for the digital media industry

View Comments

The 2009 conference season begins
Happy new year! Recently, Jason Oberfest of MySpace put together a great resource of a bunch of digital media tech conferences. I added a couple ad-related conferences, and he agreed to graciously share.

Is this list complete?
Of course this list isn’t complete at all. If there’s anything missing in the list, please leave a link in the comments!

The digital media conference list (so far):

Demos and General Technology

Platforms, apps, and widgets

Online Advertising events

Gaming

Finance

Business and analysts

UPDATED: added a couple games and search ones, courtesy reminders from Jameson Hsu, Joe Ludwig, Lee Clancy, Wallen’s, Niki Scevak Charles Hudson, Andrew Parker, and Jonathan Mendez. Thanks!

  2. Dissing search? ;)

It will be interesting to see attendance. Pretty hard to justify $1k to hit a conference these days.

  22. tough question – some of the larger ones, like Web 2.0 Expo, are likely to have stuff specifically about your topic – the smaller events (like Startonomics) are great once you are tactically executing a plan and need to understand more about the nitty gritty. So if you are reasoning by analogy, I'd mostly stick with the big conferences in the Demo/General tech area.

  31. Thanks for pulling this together, Andrew. From Philadelphia, we offer the Emerging Tech for the Enterprise conference. The conference provides a great venue for developers and designers interested in the latest technologies used in Digitial Media and software in general (Ruby, Springs, iPhone Apps). Also includes some killer tracks for management hoping to use these technologies.

  32. Useful list Andrew, thanks.

This is one which I attended last year (travelling from Ireland to do so) and I will be there again this year. A great 2 day gathering of businesses in the subscription/freemium space.

Unfortunately it does not leak into the Web2 world a whole lot and certainly gets little attention on this side of the Atlantic. My live blogging notes from 2008 are here if anyone is interested:
