		<description>&lt;p&gt;On the User Acquisition side, I strongly suggest you take a look at Perplex City (and the other ARGs too, but PXC is the only one to make a commercial success). Unfortunately, the sequel has been cancelled, and most of the rich community and online user-acquisition stuff has gone off line (although the core game is *mostly* archived and available).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Simply put, we did an excellent job of giving players items that had value to non-players but no value to other existing players - so that they gave them away as free introductory gifts to non-players, and acquired vast numbers of new users for us. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Or have a look for the panel I did at Casuality 2006 on Alternative Business Models for Mobile - there&#039;s a bunch of issues that came up around getting your product into people&#039;s hands whilst circumventing the traditional channels (or co-opting them to work for you rather than against you). I&#039;m not sure how much of that got blogged though.&lt;/p&gt;
