Explicitly commercial widgets

Link: VentureBeat » Vflyer releases classified ad widget.

If you were a blogging platform, would you allow something like this on your site? If you didn’t make any money, and they were essentially getting free ad space?

I know Oliver from vFlyer and it is a pretty useful product.

There seems to be a new trend in widget marketing of just assuming people will willingly post whatever you want on there site.

The best way for me to think about this is like a tattoo. If I asked you to tattoo “I love noah kagan” on your arm, would you? Relating this to widgets you really have to consider the user benefit before assuming people will do what you ask.

I would definitely tattoo “I love noah kagan” on my arm
